Going in a straight line was really easy. This worked great as it had a remote control so I could watch what going on and move the rollers without having to walk back and forth. Attached it to a tow strap that was attached to the two bolts on the skid. I mounted a 4,500lb winch, $92 on Amazon, to my tractor bucket and pushed the edge of the bucket into the ground. You have some soft soil so you may need to put some plywood underneath your path of travel as well. Then I placed some 5" round wooden fence posts from tractor supply underneath the skids. I had previously tried 5" lag bolts but they broke. I drilled through the 2x4/4x4 vertically and put a Grade 8 bolt with washers through. I nailed a 2x4 across the top of the end of the 4x4's to keep them from spreading. It was too heavy for my tractor to pick up or pull.įirst I lifted the shed up with jacks and slid two 4x4's with chamfered ends underneath to make skids to support it. I moved my shed that was larger than that 150 yards just last week. If anyone in the Charlotte, NC area comes up with a workable idea I will hand deliver your choice of 12 pack :-). I figure if anyone could come up with a viable option it would be the OB. I am guessing those shed moving machines (some call them mules) may work, but don't see how they would allow the shed to be set on the platform.

Had previously called a shed mover who originally said "no problem" until he saw the flimsy metal subframe. This was the smallest telehandler (5,500lb load limit) I could rent:Īnd this was still the result of the damage to the yard, so I don't see a larger machine being viable: Rental was up and I was demoralized at this point, otherwise I would have tried to get some counterweight on the back (though not certain I would have made it up the incline). Not ashamed to say I channeled my inner redneck out of desperation:Īll was well until I slowly started backing up, at which point the back of the telehandler came off the ground. I have already built the following platform to set it on (it also has to go on a permanent foundation per HOA) which gives an indication of the slope of yard (about the same where the shed currently is):
